About the Artist

Heather Crowley

Art has always been an integral part of my life even though I am not formally educated in fine arts with the exception of a few introductory art courses in college. As a child I was surrounded by an environment enriched with the arts.  My childhood was spent amidst easels, paint brushes and turpentine while my mother taught art classes out of my childhood home.  Instead of art, I pursued a career in medicine and chose pathology as my specialty. I realize now that was probably in large part due to the beautiful visual world under the microscope that I would get to experience on a daily basis. After turning to meditation and yoga for career related stress in 2008, I came to the realization that I needed to make some space for my dharma, my own heart's truth  and expression through art. In 2009 I left my private practice of six years for a part time position in another group so I could explore my creative path.

Painting is a meditation for me and my best work happens when I can get out of the way and let the creativity flow through me.  My intention has always been to remind myself and others of the beauty we are all stewards of and to help us reconnect with the interdependent web of which we are a part. Our modern lives have become so overfilled with technology and multitasking that we seem to take for granted the beauty that is all around us. I hope these images will help to remind us and reawaken us to that beauty and inspire all of us to take part in protecting our home and all other sentient beings.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you

Dare

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
